We're seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants with phlebotomy experience to teach Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy courses at local charter high schools. What You'll Do:
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on clinical skills training.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and entry-level healthcare careers.
- Follow the provided curriculum and complete basic classroom documentation.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patient care, and real-world best practices.
- Encourage, mentor, and support students as they develop confidence in their healthcare skills.
What We're Looking For:
Relevant backgrounds include:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of current Medical Assistant experience OR 1+ year teaching Medical Assistant courses.
- Active CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), NRCMA (NAHP), or equivalent Medical Assistant certification.
- Candidates teaching Phlebotomy must have documented phlebotomy experience.
- NRCMA with a documented Phlebotomy specialization qualifies to teach both Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy courses. No separate phlebotomy certification is required if the specialization is clearly reflected on the resume or candidate profile.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Teaching, mentoring, coaching, precepting, or employee training experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to successfully complete an FBI fingerprint/background screening.
Location & Schedule:
Campuses: Rio Grande Valley area (Palmview, Mission, McAllen, Edinburg, San Juan and Weslaco included)
Programs: Medical Assistant & Phlebotomy
Assignment: Starts August 2026 (Semester and year-long opportunities available)
Schedule: Varies by campus (weekday instructional hours usually between 8a-4p)
*Travel between campuses may be requested based on coverage needs*
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly pay per instructional session based on experience (Typically $83-$92)
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Opportunities for multiple teaching assignments and additional instructional opportunities as available
