Job Description
We are seeking a CMM Operator/Programmer, Parts Inspector A to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Zeiss Calypso CMM operation and programming, precision inspection, and aerospace quality systems and a proven ability to ensure product conformity, resolve nonconformances, and support manufacturing through accurate inspection and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections of aerospace propulsion parts and assemblies to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Plan, program, set up, and operate CMMs using Zeiss Calypso, including developing new routines, methods, and applications for complex geometries.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and GD&T to create inspection plans and reports.
- Process routing/material transactions and maintain accurate records, logs, and photo documentation per procedures.
- Disposition nonconforming product and support investigations, corrective actions, and anomaly resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and engineering to ensure product integrity and flow.
- Assist in checkout and verification of CMM programs and complex routines; identify new CMM applications and techniques.
- Use hoists and rigging equipment to safely handle parts; follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Support continuous improvement and apply lean principles to inspection processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CMM operation and programming with Zeiss Calypso.
- Proficiency with GD&T and interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of quality control and assurance principles, including Stamp/Signature responsibilities.
- Ability to select and use precision measuring equipment and interpret results accurately.
- Computer literacy with electronic recordkeeping and reporting systems; strong documentation skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes in an aerospace environment.
- Ability to meet mental and visual demands to inspect parts, follow sequences, and resolve problems under deadlines.
- Ability to use hoists and rigging; operate material handling equipment as required for parts under 30 lbs hand lifts.
- 3-5 years of direct experience in precision inspection and CMM operations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting corrective actions and anomaly investigations in regulated environments.
- Working knowledge of lean and continuous improvement tools.
Work Conditions & Additional Information:
- Work schedule is 40 hours per week; varying shifts and hours may be required.
- Possibility to convert to direct hire.
- Work may occur in indoor and outdoor conditions with variable noise; PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat may be required.
- Role may require walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs; color differentiation may be necessary.
- Frequent use of crane/hoist for parts handling; limited or no driving of company vehicles expected for contractors.
Education:
- High School diploma required.
- Completion of a 2-3 year Technical Certification or Trade School or equivalent desired.
