CMM Operator (Zeiss/LK)-2nd Shift

$25-$29/hr + 10% Shift Differential | Day 1 Benefits | Weekly Pay | 75+ Years of Stability

Think BIG. Literally

If you've spent your career inspecting parts you can hold in one hand, this role is a different animal - and for the right person, a more interesting one. Acme Industries machines large, complex castings and forgings - finished components measured in feet, not inches, and weighing anywhere from 50 pounds to over a ton. We're looking for an experienced CMM Operator who knows what it takes to inspect big, heavy, high-value parts on large-envelope Zeiss and LK Coordinate Measuring Machines.

What Makes This Role Different

Inspecting large components is its own discipline. On any given shift you might be:

  • Staging and orienting oversized machined castings and forgings on the CMM using overhead cranes, hoists, and custom fixturing - not tweezers and vises
  • Running programs on large-envelope Zeiss and LK CMMs built to handle parts that dwarf a typical granite plate setup
  • Managing thermal stabilization, datum strategy, and probe planning for parts where a small setup error compounds across several feet of geometry
  • Verifying tight tolerances on one-of-a-kind, high-dollar components for demanding industries - where a scrapped part isn't a bin of rejects, it's a serious event

If you take pride in the planning, rigging, and setup judgment that large-part inspection demands, you'll fit right in here.

What You'll Do

  • Perform dimensional inspection of large precision-machined castings and forgings using Zeiss and LK CMMs
  • Safely handle, lift, and fixture heavy components using overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment
  • Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T to verify part conformance
  • Execute existing CMM programs and assist with setup and alignment for new part configurations
  • Document inspection results and communicate findings to machinists, engineers, and quality leadership
  • Support first-article, in-process, and final inspections in an AS9100 environment

What We're Looking For

  • Experience operating Zeiss and/or LK CMMs (Calypso and/or CAMIO experience a plus)
  • Hands-on experience inspecting large or heavy components - castings, forgings, weldments, or similar (candidates whose background is exclusively small parts will find this a significant transition)
  • Comfort and experience with overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging for part handling (or willingness to be trained and certified)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Attention to detail and sound judgment - our parts are too valuable for guesswork
  • Ability to work 2nd shift

Why Acme Industries

  • $25-$29/hr plus a 10% shift differential
  • Benefits starting Day 1 and weekly pay
  • 75+ years of stability serving aerospace, defense, and other demanding industries
  • Modern, climate-controlled inspection environment with serious metrology equipment
  • A shop where quality people are respected - your findings drive real decisions
