Job Description

We're seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to join a growing quality and metrology team in a highly advanced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role focused on developing, validating, and optimising inspection programmes while supporting new product development, process validation, quality improvements, and production operations.

Description

  • Develop, modify, validate, and troubleshoot CMM programmes for new and existing products.
  • Program and operate CMM equipment using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar metrology software.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Define inspection methods, measurement strategies, datum structures, and probe configurations.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, vision systems, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Complete First Article Inspections and generate detailed inspection reports.
  • Create inspection plans and automated inspection routines for product launches and validation activities.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and process capability studies.
  • Analyse inspection data to support process improvements and engineering initiatives.
  • Participate in design and drawing reviews to improve manufacturability and inspectability.
  • Assist with inspection fixture development and measurement setup design.
  • Support calibration and verification activities for inspection equipment.
  • Provide metrology expertise to Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Tooling teams.
  • Train and mentor team members on inspection techniques and equipment operation.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Profile

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on CMM programming experience within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to independently create, edit, validate, and troubleshoot CMM programmes.
  • Experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or comparable CMM programming software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Knowledge of dimensional metrology, inspection planning, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Experience using manual inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.
  • Background performing First Article Inspections, Gage R&R studies, MSA, and capability studies.
  • Understanding of SPC and SQC methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical findings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality-related software systems

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of CMM programming experience.
  • Experience with ZEISS or Hexagon CMM equipment.
  • Experience with Micro-Vu or other vision measurement systems.
  • Background in plastic injection moulding, tooling, medical devices, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with CAD-driven inspection, offline programming, or CAD-to-CMM programming.
  • Formal GD&T training or relevant quality/metrology certifications
