    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs used to verify complex precision-machined components and medical devices. This position supports quality assurance activities through advanced inspection programming, measurement analysis, validation activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.

    The CMM Programmer serves as a technical resource for dimensional inspection processes and supports compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality system requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inspection Programming & Metrology

    • Develop, validate, and maintain CMM inspection programs for complex components and assemblies.
    • Set up CMM equipment, fixtures, probes, and part alignments to ensure accurate inspection results.
    • Perform program modifications and improvements to support production, validation, and new product introduction activities.
    • Import and align CAD models to develop automated inspection strategies.
    • Operate and support CMM software platforms including PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar metrology software.
    • Generate and maintain inspection reports and supporting documentation.

    Quality & Compliance

    • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
    • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and validation studies.
    • Participate in Gage R&R studies and measurement system analysis activities.
    • Support customer quality requirements and regulatory compliance initiatives.
    • Assist with NCR, MRB, CAPA, and root cause investigations.
    • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
    • Maintain compliance with applicable FDA, ISO, and quality system requirements.

    Process Improvement & Technical Support

    • Analyze inspection results and statistical data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Support SPC and process capability initiatives.
    • Recommend improvements to inspection methods, fixturing, and measurement techniques.
    • Provide fixture and gage design input to improve measurement accuracy and repeatability.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve dimensional and process-related issues.
    • Drive continuous improvement within inspection and metrology processes.

       

      What We’re Looking For

      • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Quality Assurance, Precision Measurement, or a related discipline preferred.  OR Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience may be considered.
      • 3+ years of experience in CAMM programming, advanced inspection, or metrology within a precision manufacturing environment.
      • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
      • Experience supporting validation activities, first article inspections, and quality investigations preferred.
      • Advanced understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
      • Strong knowledge of precision measurement principles and inspection methodologies.
      • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
      • Experience with CMM setup, probe qualification, calibration, and fixture alignment.
      • Proficiency with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent software.
      • Ability to develop new CMM inspection programs and optimize existing programs.
      • Knowledge of SPC, data analysis, and measurement system analysis techniques.
      • Familiarity with validation protocols, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
      • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

        Schedule

        • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
        • Optional overtime on Saturdays (as needed)
