OBJECTIVE:
To ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the data generated by the CMM team and CMM programmers is developed and maintained for the purpose of configuration verification of product manufactured to meet customer requirements.

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS AND AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, stoop, crouch, and stretch for prolonged periods
• Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance
• Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust
• Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms

MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED
• Perform a variety of duties to operate Coordinate Measuring equipment to measure dimensions of components to specified requirement
• Install and run CMM programs to support production operations. Draw sketches using Computer Aided Design (CAD) program and/or CATIA
• As conditions require, perform all requirements of a Level II QA Inspector
• CMM programming in the CatiaV5 working environment
• CMM operation for the acceptance of 4 and 5 axis machined parts

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the CMM operators and CMM programmers in the following activities and be able to complete the following when required:
o Reports out on daily GEMBA walks with detailed information on what was ran and what is going to run/be programmed in CMM that day.
o Works RCCA to understand why parts are not running at rates that support programs and works improvement processes as required.
o Review manufacturing planning, engineering drawings, and digital models (when available) to determine proper dimensions and tolerance specifications for specific part/tool to be measured
o Assist CMM Lead to report/elevate any problems with equipment, software or materials as soon as issue is identified
o Assist CMM Lead to determine resolution of CMM problems within limited time constraints when requested
o Interpret and summarize inspection data
o Document inspection results in the form of AS9102 First Article Inspection report
o Maintain detailed records of programs and inspection results
o Assist product engineers and manufacturing in the analysis of dimensional inspection data
o In-process inspection
o Perform mechanical inspection on parts/assemblies using standard inspection equipment such as bore gages, height gages, micrometers, etc.
o Report clear and concise inspection results to manufacturing to assist in the success of quality product
o CMM programming prior to the machining/manufacture of upcoming product
o Maintain all proper documentation requirements
o Assist in periodic audits, including but not limited to, internal, customer, ISO audits, etc.
o Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area
• Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear personal protective equipment as required
• Follow corporate policies and procedures as well as department goals and objectives. Maintain frequent interaction with vendors on new machinery and assist with set up as needed
• Actively participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes
• Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy when interacting with co-workers, team members and supervisors

Job Requirements
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience; preferably CMM leadership experience
• Working knowledge of stationary CMM equipment and the supporting software package(s)
• Use of advanced mathematics together with the use of:
o applicable manuals and specifications
o precision measuring instruments
o computer and specific software application programs of a technical nature

Education & Experience
Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
• 5 or more years’ experience operating a CMM or portable CMM machine
• 3 or more years’ CMM leadership experience
• 2-year technical college education or a completed apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft or occupation
