Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented CMM Technician to join our client’s team in Liberty, SC. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in accuracy, quality, and attention to detail. You should be comfortable working with precision measurement equipment, interpreting complex engineering drawings, identifying potential measurement issues, and communicating results clearly to both Quality and Manufacturing teams. Experience with CMM programming, MCOSMOS, CAD, GD&T, and manufacturing inspection is highly valued.Responsibilities
  • Operating CMM and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Monitoring the accuracy and performance of inspection equipment.
  • Performing routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Assisting with repairs and identifying equipment issues that may affect measurement accuracy.
  • Ensuring measurement equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Supporting the Quality department with dimensional inspection activities.
  • Perform dimensional measurements and complete inspections of engineering projects, tooling, production parts, incoming components, assemblies, and prototypes.
  • Perform daily upkeep and basic maintenance of CMM equipment and accessories.
  • Report equipment damage, malfunctions, or failures promptly.
  • Ensure CMM equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Verify appropriate inspection outputs and communicate inspection results to the appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Develop, maintain, modify, and generate CMM programs used to inspect and verify production assemblies, incoming parts, tooling, and prototypes.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements to establish appropriate inspection criteria.
  • Complete all required measurements and documentation for First Article Inspection (FAI), including bubble prints, and organize records for quick and accurate retrieval.
  • Clearly communicate out-of-specification measurements and inspection findings to appropriate coworkers and departments.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Document completed work in a clear, organized, and easy-to-understand format.
  • Ensure inspection documentation is updated when engineering changes or revisions are made.
  • Coordinate surface plate inspections and setup/calibration of hand-held gauges as required.
  • Investigate measurement discrepancies and instances of mismeasurement by identifying, researching, analyzing, and reporting measurement-related problems.
  • Understand, implement, and maintain the company's quality policy through the accurate and consistent performance of all duties and responsibilities.
  • Follow all company safety regulations and maintain clean, organized, and orderly work areas.
  • Perform additional inspections and Quality department responsibilities as directed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of GD&T training preferred.
  • Previous experience in an automotive quality/metrology laboratory or other highly regulated manufacturing laboratory required.
  • Previous CMM experience preferred.
  • Experience with CMM fixturing and programming.
  • Practical knowledge of MCOSMOS software and CAD.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Thorough understanding of dimensional inspection principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, data, reports, work instructions, and guidelines.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Windows applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with machining processes and general machine shop practices.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including: 
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Depth gauges
    • Height gauges
    • Dial indicators
    • Optical comparators
    • Other precision inspection equipment
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to measurement accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and other departments.
