Certified Nurse Aide-Night shift 11pm-7 am

The hiring range for this position is $21.45 to $24.04. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Our Assisted Living is seeking a caring and motivated C.N.A.

C.N.A. license is required.

The Certified Nursing Aide assists residents with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) tasks in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services. Report pertinent information to the manager or nurse in charge.

Shift Details:

Full-Time 11pm - 7am (Every other weekend required)

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist residents with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, eating/feeding, bowel control, bladder control) and document the care provided promoting a resident's independence and ensuring appropriate hygiene
  • Assist residents with IADLs (meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, money management) supporting a resident's independence and quality of life
  • Assist with serving meals in the dining room to provide adequate nutrition and a resident desirable social experience
  • Monitor and document resident's vital signs, intake/output, weights and blood sugars as necessary and report findings to nurse in charge for appropriate follow-up care.
  • Adhere to the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and report concerns or suggestions for changes/additions to nurse in charge and/or manager
  • Observe residents for changes in mood, behavior, affect, cognition and physical changes and report to nurse in charge and/or manager immediately
  • Document accurately, communicate effectively, including change of shift report, maintain resident safety and report any significant changes to appropriate nurse
  • Transport residents to various appointments and activities ensuring appropriate medical and personal commitments
  • Responsible for cleaning resident apartments and common areas and maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment
  • Maintain appropriate VDSS educational compliance
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Must be able to think and act with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Must be able to respond and report urgent situations to nurse in charge and/or manager
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize workloads
  • Must remain alert, aware and observant of resident needs

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of validation therapy
  • Enhanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC)
  • Knowledge of Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) Assisted Living Regulations

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide in the State of Virginia in good standing

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Direct experience working with geriatric or cognitively impaired residents
  • Dementia training
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certification

REQUIRED BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Able to perform job duties while maintaining professional attitude and behavior

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
  • Ability to walk, reach, bend and stoop frequently and stand for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to push an occupied wheelchair
