Essential Functions -------------------

The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Provides support to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places.

Assists with activities of daily living and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion.

Acts as an advocate for disabled individuals in communicating their needs, self-expression, and goals.

Provides daily individual and group contact to clients through the delivery of recreation and leisure activities.

Plans and prepares for the group and special event programming for clients.

Documents weekly progress toward group and intervention participation.

Participates in treatment team meetings and shift change reports.

Qualifications --------------

Preferences:

  • Agency Requirements: Preference will be given to individuals with six (6) months or more experience in healthcare, typically in Human Services.
  • Agency Requires current WY CNA certification.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of client protocols and interventions of therapy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and practice partner.
  • Knowledge of procedures of specialized sensory programs to include olfactory, vestibular motion, tactile implements, and auditory interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of program adaptations.
  • Knowledge of recreation and social programming.
  • Knowledge of motivational techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree (typically in Healthcare)
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification

Education & Experience Substitution:

  • 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification

Physical Working Conditions -------------------------

  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
  • Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends as scheduled.

Notes -----

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
  • For our residents health and protection, annual influenza vaccination and testing for tuberculosis are required.
  • Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19.
  • Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive).
  • Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted in any position if reasonable suspicion exists.

Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions

New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position

Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public

One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.

Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.

Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
