Job Summary
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will deliver both direct and indirect quality care, demonstrating respect, compassion, and sensitivity towards all individuals. Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, you will uphold the dignity of each person by fostering a safe and comforting therapeutic environment, promoting and enhancing independence among patients/residents. This entails helping residents with personal hygiene, mobility, meals, and various other daily activities, and making the residents feel valued and respected.
The Dementia Unit offers 24-hour care for people with Alzheimers disease and related memory disorder. Care is provided utilizing both a medical and social model of care with therapeutic programs tailored to each residents needs, abilities, and preferences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including: • Bathing • Dressing • Oral care • Hair care • Shaving • Nail care • Grooming • Toileting • Eating
• Assist residents with mobility transfers and positioning using appropriate techniques and stretches, as well as using proper mechanical lifts, body mechanics, and a variety of equipment designed to support the patient and ergonomically help the CNA.
• Execute basic physical therapy tasks, including: • Facilitating both active and passive range of motion exercises • Applying immobilizers, splints, and slings as needed
• Support residents during mealtimes by serving or feeding residents and ensuring they receive proper nutrition and hydration.
• Help maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, including: • Changing linens • Personal laundry • Tidying personal space • Following protocols of infection control
• Respond promptly to resident calls, pagers, call lights to for assistance, addressing their needs with patience and kindness.
• Collaborate with licensed nursing staff to implement care plans and ensure residents receive high-quality, personalized care.
• Document resident information accurately and timely, including vital signs, intake/output measurements, and care provided.
• Foster positive relationships with residents and their families, providing emotional support and companionship as needed.
• Participate in educational programs and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in caregiving techniques and resident care.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and safety guidelines, within the scope of the CNA position.
• Demonstrate professionalism and compassion in all interactions with residents, families, and colleagues.
• Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
• Maintains required licenses, certifications, and competencies and completes annual compliance courses on time.

Education and Experience
• Less than high school • License/Certification • Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting preferred • Graduate of Maine State Board-approved CNA course • Registered with Maine CNA Registry

Compensation Range: $21.55 - $29.68 Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. At the time of an offer, determination of your offer will reflect your skills and experience as it relates to the position.
