CNA / Nurse Assistant/LTC

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract (Travel)
  • Contract Duration: 6 months
  • Pay Rate: $25.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: 4x12 Variable or 3x12 Variable (traveler's choice). Shifts will be either Days or Nights (dependent on facility needs at time of start date). Day shift: 7:00 19:30; Night shift: 19:00 7:30. Caregivers are not asked to rotate between night/day shifts (occasional exceptions for urgent staffing needs).
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours per 2 weeks. Traveler can be called off for 1, 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
  • Travel Requirements: Previous travel experience required. Local candidates not accepted candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a travel CNA / Long Term Care assignment based at a Long Term Care Facility in Seward, AK. The position is open to candidates with a valid CNA license in another state whose Alaska CNA license is pending, provided the license application has already been submitted. Previous travel experience is required, and first-time travelers are not accepted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within a Long Term Care (LTC) facility setting.
  • Float within scope to meet facility needs as required.
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:20.
  • Obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification during on-site orientation at the facility (required for all caregivers working in an LTC facility; certification is obtained during orientation not prior to start date).

Required Skills

  • Long Term Care (LTC) experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Willingness to work any holidays preferred; must submit all RTO requests with initial submittal.

Education Requirements

  • Valid CNA license required.
  • Alaska (AK) CNA license required pending status accepted, but candidate must have already submitted the Alaska CNA license application prior to applying.

- Candidate must provide documentation of license application including: application submittal, application fee paid, fingerprints (FPs) submitted, educational verification submitted, and license verification submitted.

  • If AK CNA license is pending, candidate must also submit:

- Valid CNA license in another state. - Verification of completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate, transcript, or equivalent).

  • Alaska Food Worker Certification obtained during on-site orientation at facility (required; there is a one-time fee for this certification).

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Facility type: Long Term Care Facility.
  • Total staffed beds: 40.
  • Charting system: ECS.
  • Scrub color: Any.
  • Parking: Free.
  • On-call: Not required.
  • Block schedule: Not accommodated.
  • Clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs.
  • Vehicle Information: The facility will arrange a vehicle for the traveler to use while on assignment. The vehicle will either be a facility-owned vehicle rented to the traveler or a vehicle through a rental car company.

- Vehicle will be available for use no earlier than 72 hours before the contract begins and not longer than 24 hours after the contract ends. - Only the traveler is authorized to operate the vehicle. - Traveler must provide a copy of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance prior to operating the vehicle. - Traveler's personal vehicle insurance policy must include rental car insurance to cover any accidents or damages to a rental car. - Vehicles are provided solely for use around town and must not be taken off-road or outside a 30-mile radius from the facility. - If the traveler has time off during their contract, the vehicle must be turned in during time off and a new vehicle will be issued upon return. - Tire chains are available at an additional cost billed to the traveler. - Vehicle must be returned cleaned and with a full tank of gas.

Important Notes

  • Previous travel experience is required. First-time travelers are not accepted.
  • AK CNA license pending is accepted, but the candidate must have already submitted the Alaska CNA license application. Candidates who have not yet submitted the application should be redirected.
  • RTO Restrictions: No more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered for a 26-week contract. Preference is for travelers who are willing and able to work any holidays. All RTO must be submitted with the initial submittal. RTO will not be considered if requested after an offer or after signing the contract.
  • Local candidates are not accepted. Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
  • Alaska Food Worker Certification is required for all caregivers in an LTC facility and will be obtained during on-site orientation. There is a one-time fee for this certification.
