The primary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant Transporter position is to provide each assigned resident with excellent daily nursing care and services to assure resident safety in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care, and as may be directed by your supervisor
• Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of taxis, ambulances, and cars; lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas; using wheelchairs or moveable beds. •
Transports equipment and supplies; delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas.
• Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratory. •
Safely transport patients to and from each location by following all safety protocols/processes. • Retrieves and stores transport equipment. • Uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out the essential duties of the position. • Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age groups including the use of patient lift equipment. • Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination using the proper requested equipment. • Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception and dispatch.
• Ensures the comfort of the patient by being attentive. Offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. • Alerts nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction. • Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs. • Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state local governmental regulations. • Adheres to facility confidentiality And patient's rights policy as outlined in the facilities HIPPA policies and procedures. Completes all necessary delivery forms and paperwork including, but not limited to invoices, work orders, manifests and logs, patient care instructions, route sheets, etc.
• Delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations. • Delivers, sets up and maintains equipment at the delivery address using company vehicle. • Educates the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered items. • Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition. • Observes additional needs that the patient may have and reports to management during morning meeting • Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required •
Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.) • Greet residents and escort them to their room. • Introduce resident to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate. • Make resident comfortable (i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.) • Inventory and mark the resident’s personal possessions as instructed. • Store resident’s clothing. • Assist residents with packing their personal belongings when they are being transferred or discharged. • Transport residents to new rooms or to the receiving area. • Assist with loading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary. a• Performs other duties as assigned, performs duties necessary to provide safe, courteous and efficient transport of patients, equipment, supplies and specimens to and from patient care areas and departments within the facility or campus assigned.
