    Job Description

Join EMAG and Power What’s Next

At EMAG, people make the difference. We invest in your growth through international project exposure, tailored development opportunities, and a benefits package that includes a strong 401k match and a $0 employee premium for medical, dental, and vision coverage.

    A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for a new machine tool build. Before lunch, you’re on the floor validating I/O, tuning servos, and verifying safety circuits. In the afternoon, you collaborate with controls and electrical engineering to finalize communication interfaces, then sync with a customer and third-party integrator to align on interface requirements. You wrap up by documenting programming updates, capturing test records, and preparing operator training notes for tomorrow’s run-off.

    What You’ll Tackle

    • Own electrical commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and operational verification for EMAG machine tools, CNC systems, and automation cells—at EMAG facilities and customer sites.
    • Program, configure, and validate control components, peripheral devices, communication networks, and automation functions to meet customer specifications.
    • Coordinate directly with customers, system integrators, equipment suppliers, and vendors to define interfaces, resolve issues, and integrate auxiliary systems.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
    • Execute wiring checks, I/O verification, machine testing, and functional validation; assist with safety circuit testing and servo tuning.
    • Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, CNC, servo, HMI, communication, and automation issues to root cause.
    • Verify system performance against engineering specifications and customer expectations; support customer acceptance.
    • Capture detailed commissioning documentation, test records, service reports, and customer sign-off.
    • Deliver operator and maintenance training focused on electrical systems and safe operation.
    • Champion safety, including lockout/tagout, electrical standards, and customer site policies; keep work areas orderly and safe.
    • Drive continuous improvement in startup methods, troubleshooting processes, and operational efficiency.
    • Travel domestically and internationally as project needs require; perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

    Your Toolkit

    • Solid grasp of industrial electrical systems, machine tools, CNC equipment, automation, and manufacturing operations.
    • Fluency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
    • Foundational understanding of PLCs, CNC controls, servo drives, HMIs, sensors, and industrial communications (preferred).
    • Strength in diagnostics and problem-solving for electrical and automation systems; adept with electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
    • Knowledge of electrical safety and LOTO; meticulous documentation and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and organization; works independently and within cross-functional teams.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (preferred) and familiarity with ISO 14001/9001 concepts (preferred).

    Background That Fits

    • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or similar (preferred).
    • 2+ years in electrical commissioning, controls, maintenance, automation, or industrial manufacturing (preferred).
    • Hands-on with industrial machinery, CNC systems, or automation equipment; experienced troubleshooting electrical and controls systems.
    • Professional written and verbal communication; maintains confidentiality.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

    Hands-On Proficiencies

    • Electrical schematics and low-voltage cabling
    • Electrical installation, repair, and electronic systems
    • CNC machine and equipment installation & wiring
    • Electrical and general troubleshooting
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

    Technologies You’ll Touch
