Your Impact

As a CNC & Automation Technical Sales Applications Specialist, you will be the technical conduit between customers and our Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams. You’ll translate requirements into feasible, cost-effective solutions and help deliver compelling proposals.

What You Will Do

  • Evaluate RFQs, technical specifications, and process requirements to propose robust solutions.
  • Create conceptual process flows, system layouts, equipment selections, and preliminary simulations.
  • Highlight risks, feasibility constraints, and optimization paths to strengthen proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with customer needs, engineering standards, and internal business metrics.

From Concept to Quote

  • Prepare comprehensive technical sales quotations in collaboration with—and under the guidance of—the Technical Sales Manager.
  • Develop cost sheets, analyze manufacturing cost structures, and define pricing inputs.
  • Engage suppliers to gather cost details, validate feasibility, and confirm lead times.
  • Produce technically accurate, competitive quotations aligned with profitability targets.

Partner Across the Business

  • Support the Technical Sales Manager during customer presentations, technical discussions, and onsite/remote meetings.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to clarify requirements and support feasibility reviews.
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews for solution development, cost validation, and risk assessment.
  • Assist with technical documentation, proposal packages, and customer-facing materials.

Technical Foundation

  • Knowledge of machining processes: turning, grinding, gear hobbing, gear grinding, ECM/PECM, laser processing.
  • Experience with robotics and automation integrated into CNC systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, identifying steps, tolerances, and critical features.
  • Active awareness of emerging technologies, supplier capabilities, and competitive trends.
  • Continuous improvement mindset for tools, processes, and documentation within Technical Sales.

Customer Engagement & Travel

Travel domestically and internationally for customer visits, presentations, and project discussions. Provide professional, technically informed guidance to help customers decide with confidence.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5+ years in technical sales, applications engineering, or machinery/system integration.
  • Experience with machining systems, manufacturing processes, or capital equipment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; adept at conveying complex ideas clearly.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
