CNC Boring Mill Machinist – Programmer

Position Overview

We have an opening for a CNC Machinist with programming expertise to machine custom components. This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills who thrive on machining complex, one-off parts rather than repetitive production work. The successful candidate will have strong setup and machining experience with CNC mills and boring operations, combined with programming proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills to precision specifications.
  • Use precision machinery to perform milling and boring operations on large custom components with high accuracy and repeatability.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Determine tooling, workholding, and machine setups for large, custom components.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam CAD/CAM software for boring and multi-axis milling operations.
  • Make program edits and machine adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and part quality.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain productivity.
  • Follow all safety and quality standards while meeting production deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills.
  • Capabilities: Ability to perform boring and multi-axis milling operations on custom, fabricated, and heavy components.
  • Strong setup experience machining large, custom, or low-volume components.
  • Required: Experience with G-code and/or M-code programming and interpretation for CNC machine control.
  • Required: Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, including creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs for boring and milling operations.
  • Experience with CNC program troubleshooting, toolpath optimization, and setup verification.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

    • Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM OR 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Optional Saturday hours: 7:00 AM–12:00 PM
    • Overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate

Compensation

  1. Pay: $30–$40 per hour, based on experience
