Picture your day starting with a new batch of metal components on the schedule. You review job orders and blueprints, plan your tool strategy, and translate design intent into efficient CNC programs that run flawlessly on automated machine tools and systems. You validate your approach with simulations and trial runs, then fine‑tune for accuracy and throughput.

What you will do

• Plan the sequence of machining operations and select cutting tools to produce parts to spec.
• Revise programs to correct issues; retest to confirm problems are resolved.
• Interpret job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool choices, spindle speeds, and feed rates.
• Establish reference points, toolpaths, and hole locations; compute linear and angular values, radii, and curvatures.
• Run trials or use computer simulations to verify that programs and machines produce components that meet requirements.
• Verify accuracy by comparing program output or printouts to original part specs and blueprints.
• Author code in the machine controller language or within a CAM platform and save programs on company network drives.
• Improve cycle time and quality by optimizing existing programs.
• Use computer commands to store or retrieve part patterns, graphics, or programs for transfer to other media.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Strong foundation in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their practical use.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, application, repair, and maintenance.
• Applied engineering science and technology skills across design and production processes.
• Understanding of raw materials, manufacturing methods, quality control, cost factors, and techniques that maximize effective production and distribution.
• Programming capability for CNC equipment.
• Ability to solve complex problems and make sound, cost‑aware decisions.
• Proficiency in drafting with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Ability to mark up prints and drawings to produce manufacturing documentation.

Background that fits

• Hands‑on machinist experience.
• Control‑based programming (conversational and/or G & M codes).

• CAD experience in 2D and solid modeling.

Work environment

• Approximately 40 hours per week; may include on‑call, evenings, and/or weekends.
• Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
