CNC Lathe Machinist

CNC Lathe Machinist – Bourne, MA $32/hr -$36/hr
Ability to produce precision machined parts in stainless steels, aluminum, titanium and plastics by setting up & running large capacity horizontal CNC lathe machines.
Required Skills and Qualifications

• Able to set up and operate large capacity CNC lathes, up to 14” diameter and up to 36” lengths.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
• Ability to use inspection tools and understand technical documentation.
• Good math, technical, and computer skills.
• Recordkeeping and reporting proficiency.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Communication and time management skills.
• Physical dexterity and stamina may be needed for production floor duties.

Responsibilities:

• Setup & operate CNC lathes based on work orders & blueprints.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and G-code/CAM programs to understand specifications and instructions.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to ensure quality output and meet production goals.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
• Document production data and report nonconformities in output.
• Collaborate with quality inspectors and supervisors to support process improvement, and production deadlines.
