CNC Lathe Machinist

Pay: $23.00 - $40.00 per hour

iWorkforce Solutions is seeking a motivated Level 2 CNC Machinist to join our client, Special Metals Corp, a leader in high-performance alloy manufacturing. In this role, you will operate 2-5 axis CNC/Automated machine cells and standalone machines. This is a fantastic opportunity for a machinist with 2-4 years of experience looking to advance their skills in a safety-first, precision-driven environment.

What You'll Do

• Setup & Operation: Perform basic machine setup, including preparing fixtures, setting cutting tools, and loading/adjusting CNC programs and offsets.
• Precision Machining: Set up and operate numerical control tools to automatically drill and ream metal parts.
• Quality Control: Utilize advanced inspection tools like height gauges, air gauges, and bench inspection to ensure parts meet strict tolerances
• Technical Troubleshooting: Adjust machine feeds, speeds, and tooling as needed; interpret G and M codes to ensure smooth operation
• Documentation: Review shop travelers and blueprints to verify sequences and ensure all prior operations are complete

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 2-4 years of CNC machining experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of CNC G and M codes and blueprint reading.
• Math Skills: Introductory competence in shop math (working with fractions and decimals).
• Tooling: Familiarity with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
• Communication: Ability to read and write English and follow written instructions on shop travelers.
• Education: GED or High School diploma preferred
