CNC Lathe Machinist (Large Lathe - 2nd Shift)

Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist
Location: Poway, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | 2:15 PM – 10:45 PM (2nd Shift)
Pay: $30-$40/hr (w/ 2nd shift bonus)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This role is responsible for maintaining quality standards, meeting production schedules, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to machine metallic materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
• Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Monitor tool life and perform basic deburring or rework as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve machining processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and other duties as assigned.
• Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC lathe machining experience.
• Experience with G-code programming and machine setup.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong blueprint reading and machining math skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Experience machining Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel.
• Tool life management experience.
• Experience setting up 3-axis CNC machines
