CNC Lathe Machinist
Position Overview
The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up, editing, and running CNC turning machines to produce precision parts according to customer specifications and company procedures. This role involves working with a variety of turning centers to ensure accurate and efficient fabrication. You will handle the technical aspects of machine setup, including tool configuration and program adjustments, to maintain high-quality production performance.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Fabricate precision parts and components using CNC lathes ranging from 2-axis through multi-spindle mill-turn centers.

Read job drawings and travelers to develop and execute production plans following company procedures.

Set up jobs using pre-written G-code programs or create new programs in MasterCAM when required.

Perform G-code edits at the machine as needed.

Swap collets, load and touch off tools, and enter tool offsets.

Perform first-piece inspections after setup to ensure all requirements are met.

Operate CNC machines as needed to support production targets.

Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve machine or process issues.

Maintain high-quality standards and accurately complete all required documentation, including travelers and quality forms.

Keep work areas organized, clean, and compliant with company safety and housekeeping standards.




* Minimum 5 years of experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist with specific expertise in CNC Mill Turn set ups.

* Ability to develop programs from scratch or edit G code directly at the machine to ensure accurate execution of blueprints and technical work instructions.

* Skilled in the use of common shop measuring tools and the application of math and geometry to manage part tolerances and feature precision.

* Strong understanding of turning inserts and material properties to optimize machining processes and anticipate potential non conformities during production.
