The ideal candidate
will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC and/or
manual lathes to produce precision metal parts. This role requires strong
attention to detail, knowledge of machining processes, and the ability to
interpret technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup
& Programming:
Set up
CNC and/or manual lathes according to job specifications.
Read
and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Create,
edit, and adjust CNC programs as needed for efficient machining.
Select
appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
Operation
& Quality Control:
Operate
lathes to machine parts within tight tolerances.
Inspect
finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring
tools.
Perform
routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
Identify
and troubleshoot machining or programming issues.
Safety
& Efficiency:
Follow
all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
Optimize
production processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Work
collaboratively with other machinists, engineers, and supervisors to
ensure smooth workflow.
Requirements
Experience:
2+
years of experience in lathe setup and operation (CNC or manual).
Experience
with G-code programming and conversational programming (preferred).
Skills:
Ability
to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
Proficiency
with precision measuring tools.
Strong
problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge
of different metal materials and machining processes.
