Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Set-Up / Operator to join a precision machining team in Owasso. This position is responsible for independently setting up, operating, and maintaining Mazak CNC lathes in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong Mazatrol programming experience, excellent machining knowledge, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while consistently producing high-quality precision components.
Required Experience & Skills
25+ years of experience operating Mazak CNC lathes
Hands-on experience with Mazatrol programming and/or G-code editing
Strong machine setup skills, including tooling, fixtures, and work offsets
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
Knowledge of machining speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and material characteristics
Proficiency using precision inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measuring equipment
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
High school diploma or GED required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes including QT, Nexus, Integrex, or similar models
Load raw materials and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding components
Set and verify tool offsets, work offsets, and machine parameters
Monitor machine performance to maintain production efficiency and part quality
Edit Mazatrol and/or G-code programs at the machine as needed
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and GD&T specifications
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
Troubleshoot machine issues, tooling problems, and production concerns
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of CNC equipment
Complete production records and inspection documentation accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-axis or live tooling Mazak machines
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
Experience using SPC, ERP systems, or job tracking software
Forklift certification or experience
Technical or vocational machining education
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Ability to stand for 810 hours per shift
Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive movements
Comfortable working around industrial machinery, coolant, and manufacturing equipment while wearing required PPE
