Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator for a contract-to-direct hire opportunity in a clean, supportive, and collaborative manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for operating CNC and/or manual lathes to produce high-precision metal components for both short-run custom jobs and long-run production batches. The ideal candidate will have experience with lathe operations, blueprint reading, precision measuring tools, and maintaining tight manufacturing tolerances.
Experience with Hyundai KIA CNC lathe machinery, including 21-LM or 250TTSY series machines, is highly valued but not required. The company offers hands-on training, including opportunities to learn advanced multi-axis live tooling techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Load and position raw metal stock or workpieces into lathes manually or with the use of hoists
Operate CNC and/or manual lathes to produce precision-machined parts
Run short-run custom jobs as well as long-run production batches
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, machine layouts, and process specifications
Inspect sample parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers
Verify part dimensions against blueprints and required tolerances
Adjust feeds, cutting speeds, depths of cut, and tool settings to improve efficiency and maintain quality
Select, install, align, and replace cutting tools as needed during operation
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure accurate production
Clean away metal shavings, chips, and debris from machines and work areas
Oil equipment and assist with general shop and machine maintenance
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
Qualifications
Prior experience operating CNC or manual lathes preferred
Experience with Hyundai KIA CNC lathe machinery is a plus
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and process specifications
Familiarity with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
Basic math skills, including geometry and decimal conversions
Ability to understand fit, finish, and manufacturing tolerances
Ability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn new machining techniques
Able to work independently and as part of a team
