CNC Maintenance Technician

Pay Rate:$28–$37/hour; Based on experience
Location: Johnstown, NY / onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Education: High school diploma/GED plus industrial maintenance experience, or a technical/associate degree in electronics or electro-mechanics required
Experience: Must have 1–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment
Skills: Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills required
Other: Ability to work overtime as needed to support emergency equipment repairs

Our growing client is seeking a skilled CNC Maintenance Technician to keep critical manufacturing equipment operating at peak performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex machinery, performing preventive maintenance, and minimizing production downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities of the CNC Maintenance Technician will include:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues on CNC manufacturing equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspections, fluid changes, calibrations, and component replacements
  • Repair or replace components such as servo motors, drives, spindles, ball screws, switches, and valves
  • Run machine test cycles, verify alignments, and ensure equipment meets required precision standards
  • Troubleshoot CNC controllers and manufacturing equipment to restore production quickly
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA guidelines

Qualifications for the role of CNC Maintenance Technician:

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED with 1–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, or a technical/associate degree in electronics or electro-mechanics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), ladder logic, and CNC control systems
  • Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, multimeters, and standard shop tools
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and OSHA safety requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including frequent standing, bending, and lifting, with overtime as needed
