CNC Machine Operator Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school, machining certificate, or CNC programming education preferred.

CNC Machine Operator Job Duties

• Operating CNC machines safely and efficiently, loading/unloading parts, and ensuring finished products meet specifications
• Reading and following blueprints and manufacturing orders to maintain precision standards
• Performing quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools
• Supporting the machine shop with deburring, tumbling, packing, assembly, punching, and bending tasks
• Performing basic machine maintenance, including cleaning chips and monitoring coolant levels
• Following 5S, Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM), and safety initiatives
• Troubleshooting machine errors and variances and recommending process improvements
• Cross-training on multiple machines to develop versatile skills
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to achieve production goals

CNC Machine Operator Experience Requirements

• Experience operating, setting up, or programming CNC machine tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
• Strong attention to detail, mathematical ability, and commitment to quality workmanship.

CNC Machine Operator Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around machining equipment throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Manual dexterity to safely operate CNC machinery and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.

What You Will Do

As a CNC Machine Operator you will set up, operate, monitor, and adjust CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications.
