PGS Worldwide is seeking CNC Machine Operators in Palmdale, CA for one-year contract roles supporting Northrop Grumman.
The CNC Machine Operator will set up and operate horizontal, multi-joint, or vertical numerical control machines to perform precision machining operations. This role supports automated equipment and tooling operations and requires CNC machining experience, robotics experience, precision measurement skills, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- 6 months of additional education and/or related experience.
- CNC machining experience.
- Robotics experience.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, preset torque tools, reference inspection gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to set up and operate numerical control machines.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Ability to use machinist hand tools and standard shop computations.
- Ability to measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points for machining.
- Ability to monitor automated systems, robotic assembly lines, conveyor networks, or HMI-controlled equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate logs for machine downtime, performance metrics, and maintenance activity.
- Ability to follow safety requirements and use required PPE.
- Ability to work second shift and alternate schedules as required.
Preferred Skills
- Formal CNC Machining Certificate.
- Experience with specialized machine attachments, improvised tooling, compound angles, contour machining, boring, helical or spiral milling, serrating, gear cutting, spline cutting, or keyway cutting.
- Experience with statistical process control or other quality control procedures.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing or robotic assembly operations.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate numerical control machines for precision machining operations.
- Select, mount, and align specialized machine attachments, standard tooling, and improvised tooling.
- Follow machining sequences, setup methods, and required number of cuts.
- Determine, set, and monitor speeds and feeds.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Perform quality checks to verify parts meet specifications.
- Monitor automated systems, robotic equipment, and production interfaces.
- Maintain daily documentation for downtime, machine performance, and maintenance activity.
- Support safe work practices and maintain hazard-free work areas.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 4x10 schedule, Monday–Thursday.
- Must be able to work second shift and alternate schedules as required.
- Onsite role.
