We are looking for a reliable Machinist to join our fast-paced job shop. In this role, you will primarily operate and set up Haas vertical machining centers (VMCs). This position is perfect for someone who understands the basic foundations of machining, knows how to navigate a machine control, and enjoys working on a variety of different parts rather than repetitive production runs.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Set up and operate Haas vertical mills to produce low-volume parts and custom fixtures.
Job Shop Adaptability: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job routers to plan your machining steps.
Quality Control: Inspect your own work using standard precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges to ensure parts meet tolerances.
Daily Maintenance: Perform basic machine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, clearing chips, and maintaining a clean workspace.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Haas Experience: Proven experience operating and setting up Haas vertical mills.
Machining Basics: Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tool selection, and basic work holding (vises, clamps).
Control Navigation: Ability to load programs, set tool offsets, and establish part zeros (work coordinate systems).
Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and understand standard dimensions and tolerances.
Measurement Tools: Proficient with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
Hours: 56 hours per week (Typical schedule includes 6 hours on Saturdays)
