Position Title – CNC Machining Centers: Set-up & Operate
Reporting to - Production Supervisor.
Section – Screw Machine Department
Qualifications - Must have successfully completed an approved training program as to setting up and operating all equipment in section. Strong mechanical ability a must. Trade school graduate or any additional training in the trades most beneficial.
Prior Experience – Requires sufficient knowledge of CNC programmed machinery, Saw Cut and Chamfer machines, Screw machines, and tooling required, to maintain close tolerances and work specifications. Experience in setting up and maintaining other types of complex mechanical equipment is essential.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Set up and operate a wide range of metal removal processes and other operations associated to ensure that all equipment is maintained and run to the high levels of efficiency and quality stipulated by company standards. Primarily responsible for set-up and operation of CNC, saw-cut/chamfer, Browne and Sharpe, bar loaders, bench grinders, surface grinders, chip and oil extractor and any tooling required to maintain close tolerances and work specifications. Able to measure all quality parameters of chain components and determine corrective action where appropriate to the processes concerned. Retrieve raw material and transfer finished components to subsequent processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment. Assist, train and develop operators.

JOB SCOPE
Quality
1. Work from drawings, production schedules, work routings and instructions. Select proper tooling, equipment, and materials for the job. Make any necessary adjustments to equipment / tooling in order to provide an efficient and quality production run. Must sharpen or replace cutting and forming tools as needed to produce a quality finish. Check work for conformity to specifications with fixed gages, scales, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
2. Follow established ISO procedures.
Equipment Operation
3. Operation of all turning, forming, cutting, chamfering, and related equipment within the section.
4. Coverage of other team members’ machines is expected during short periods of absence or break times.
5. Ensure that all processes operated are maintained under control and that prompt corrective action is taken to prevent the process drifting from the required operating parameters.
Material Handling
6. Perform a variety of duties to weigh and count order requirements and record data as required. Run parts through chip extractor and oil extractor. Deliver job to next operation / process. To deliver required steel / material to proper machines to run order requirements, and to weigh and return to stock steel / material after job completion. Operation of fork trucks, electric hoists, electric pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment.
Equipment Maintenance
7. Responsible for executing and maintaining any planned maintenance schedules in section.
Housekeeping
8. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
9. Adhere to company housekeeping schedules.
Administrative
10. Weigh, count, and record any production quality data as required.
Attitude
11. Work as part of a team to assist other members with any task that will ensure continuous running of the process.
12. Assist and train new personnel on any job duties within the section.
13. Perform other similar and associated duties as required or directed.
Safety
14. Comply with company rules for safety and security procedures. Take an active role in reducing the potential for accidents in the workplace via the appropriate channels.
Environment
15. Will be required to work in an environment that has frequent exposure to noise, vibration, various oils and fluids and sharp metal turning and chips.
