Position Summary:
The CNC Machinist 1 is responsible for operating CNC lathe equipment to manufacture precision parts that meet dimensional and quality specifications. This role includes machine setup adjustments, inspection, deburring, cleaning, and maintaining accurate production and quality records. The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality precision components
- Monitor machine performance and ensure proper operation by changing inserts, tool holders, skimming jaws, and performing routine adjustments
- Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and other measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications
- Perform dimensional offsets and monitor tool wear to maintain product accuracy
- Deburr, clean, and prepare finished parts for the next stage of production
- Complete quality control documentation and inspection records accurately
- Identify production or quality issues and communicate concerns to the supervisor promptly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform additional production-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Trade School certification required
- Minimum 1 year of CNC machine operator experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and follow production procedures
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, sit, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Frequent use of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work with objects below, at, and above shoulder level
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels
- Ability to observe fine details at close range
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe handling of mechanical and electrical equipment
