Summary
Produces machined parts by programming, editing, setting up, and operating a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Works with the engineering department to set up jobs using all pertinent information such as routers, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and specifications.
- Creates programs, edits existing programs, completes machine setup, and operates machines through loading and verifying programs, setting work and tool offsets, compensations, and conditional switches; calculating requirements.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces; adhering to AIM quality standards.
- Inspects equipment prior to use to verify equipment is in good working order.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Trains peers as necessary to run the machine.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Basic Math and Trigonometry.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and mechanical knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience with standard measuring instruments.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent functional and technical skills.
- General understanding of machine controllers.
- Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Required to stand for long periods of time.
- May frequently involve some repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- May also engage in frequent and repetitive bending, lifting, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers.
