The CNC Machinist works under minimum supervision of the lead hand or supervisor. Performs settings, operates or monitors metal or acrylic cutters designed for repetitive work.

As a CNC Machinist your key responsibilities include:

• The number of machines to be operated simultaneously may vary according to the nature of the work performed and the cycle time;
• Investigates work orders or interprets drawings and/or plans in order to determine machining operations to be performed;
• Cuts and sands Plexiglas using sandblast, circular saw and scraper;
• Assembles, places and fixes parts on the numerical control machine;
• Enters, when necessary, codes corresponding to the cutting speed, flow and coordinates in computer numerical control milling machines and changes tools based on the program.
• Deburrs tools and parts, when necessary;
• Uses some conventional machines in his/her work area, when necessary;
• Checks reference hole positions using coordinate measuring machine and zeroes as required.
• Checks machined part dimensions using micrometers, calipers, verniers and other precision measuring instruments;
• Reports programming anomalies;
• Records information and checklists for operators;
• Performs any other related tasks as assigned.

• Diploma of vocational Studies (DEP) in machining techniques or equivalent;
• Minimum of three (3) months of related experience;
• Use of complicated drawings, advanced mathematics and measuring instruments as well as a good knowledge of machining.
