Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking motivated CNC Machinists to join a manufacturing team. This opportunity is open to candidates across multiple skill levels, from entry-level machinists with technical or CNC training to experienced machinists capable of independent setups, troubleshooting, and CNC program adjustments.
This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically inclined candidates looking to develop their CNC skills as well as experienced machinists ready to take on more advanced setup, programming, quality, and mentoring responsibilities.
Required Experience & Skills
High school diploma or GED required
Technical school or CNC machining training preferred for entry-level candidates
Basic blueprint reading and mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
Ability to follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Good problem-solving and communication skills
Willingness to learn and develop additional machining skills
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment
Load and unload raw materials and finished components
Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and production schedules
Monitor machine operations and identify potential production or equipment issues
Inspect machined components using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment
Verify finished parts meet required dimensions and quality specifications
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company safety procedures and machining requirements
Perform additional machining and production duties based on experience and skill level
Intermediate Machinist Responsibilities
Candidates with additional CNC experience may also:
Perform CNC machine setups and tooling changes
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
Make machine offsets and basic operating adjustments
Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
Verify dimensional tolerances throughout production
Assist with training newer machine operators
Help identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency and quality
Skilled Machinist Responsibilities
Experienced machinists may be responsible for:
Independently set up and operate CNC equipment with minimal supervision
Edit and optimize CNC programs as required
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machining problems
Select appropriate tooling and determine machining processes
Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and quality standards
Apply advanced blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
Train and mentor entry-level machinists and machine operators
Support continuous improvement and production efficiency initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of CNC machining experience for skilled-level responsibilities
Experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes
CNC machine setup experience
Tooling change and offset experience
CNC programming or program-editing experience
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
Previous precision manufacturing or machine shop experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive physical activity
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs
Manual dexterity necessary for machine operation, tooling, and precision inspection
Comfortable working around CNC machinery, metal chips, coolants, cutting tools, and industrial equipment
Ability to safely perform assigned work while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
CNC machining and manufacturing facility
Regular operation of mills, lathes, and related machining equipment
Exposure to industrial noise, metal chips, coolants, tooling, and production machinery
Quality-focused environment requiring accurate measurements and attention to dimensional tolerances
