Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our customer's Tool Room team. This position is responsible for machining dies, die components, tooling, and precision parts using multi-axis CNC machining equipment. This is a 1st Shift - 4 day work schedule.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Haas and Hurco CNC machines, excellent knowledge of G-Code and M-Code, and the ability to independently set up, operate, and make program adjustments on multi-axis CNC equipment.
This is a tool room position, so attention to detail, precision, problem-solving ability, and experience machining complex components are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Haas and Hurco multi-axis CNC machines
- Machine dies, die components, molds, tooling, and precision components
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Read, understand, and edit G-Code and M-Code
- Make program modifications, tool offsets, and machining adjustments as required
- Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies
- Perform complex machining operations involving multiple axes
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment
- Machine parts to very tight tolerances and specifications
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and make necessary corrections
- Work closely with Tool & Die Makers, Engineers, and other members of the Tool Room
- Maintain tooling, machines, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Maintain high standards for accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship
Required Qualifications
- Multi-axis CNC machining experience is REQUIRED
- Previous experience machining dies, tooling, molds, or other complex precision components
- Hands-on experience with Haas and/or Hurco CNC machines
- Strong knowledge of G-Code and M-Code
- Ability to set up and operate CNC machines independently
- Ability to make program edits and machine/tool offsets
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining practices
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the quality of finished work
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machining experience
- Tool & Die machining experience
- Experience machining progressive dies or stamping dies
- Experience with tight-tolerance machining
- CNC programming experience
- CAM software experience
- Experience machining hardened tool steels and other specialty materials
- Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or equivalent experience
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced Tool Room CNC Machinist who takes pride in precision machining and craftsmanship. This person should be comfortable working on complex, one-off or low-volume tooling projects where accuracy is critical.
This is not a basic CNC operator position. Candidates must have hands-on multi-axis CNC machining experience and strong G-Code/M-Code skills, with the ability to set up machines and make program adjustments independently.
