Position Summary
We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to support precision manufacturing operations within a fast-paced industrial machining environment. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathe and mill machines to fabricate parts according to work order and blueprint specifications in a safety-conscious and quality-focused environment.
The CNC Machinist – Floater will load and secure parts into machines, monitor machining cycles, detect machine malfunctions, and ensure all finished components meet precise customer specifications and production deadlines. This role also supports deburring, polishing, packaging, and maintaining organized work areas while contributing to overall production efficiency and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience required
• Experience operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills required
• Experience handling both large heavy parts and small precision components
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tooling instructions, and job orders
• Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, Vernier calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges
• Basic computer knowledge and strong math skills required
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliable attendance required
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Key Responsibilities
• Read blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts to determine machining specifications
• Program (G-Code), set up, and operate CNC lathe and mill machines
• Load and secure parts into fixtures and holding devices
• Select and install appropriate tooling, cutters, and inserts for machining operations
• Monitor machine performance, tooling wear, and production quality during machining cycles
• Detect and troubleshoot machining issues including worn or damaged cutting tools
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with customer specifications
• Produce quality parts within close tolerances while meeting production quotas and deadlines
• Utilize hand tools to deburr, de-gate, polish, and package finished products according to routing instructions
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor troubleshooting
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, cost, and delivery
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas following 5S principles
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors regarding production runs and operational needs
• Support additional production and manufacturing tasks as directed by supervisors or leads
Work Environment
• Industrial machine shop and manufacturing environment
• Frequent standing and machine operation throughout shift
• Manual dexterity required for machine operation and programming
• Good vision required for reading blueprints and precision measuring instruments
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed
• Fast-paced production environment with close tolerances and production deadlines
