Job Title: CNC Machinist - Lathe & Mill Setup Specialist

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and quality-focused CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathes and/or mill machines to fabricate high-tolerance parts according to detailed blueprint specifications.
Operating in a fast-paced, safety-conscious machine shop, you will take ownership of the full machining cycle-from reading job orders and installing tool holders to monitoring tool wear and performing final part detailing. The ideal candidate blends strong technical G-code literacy with a meticulous eye for quality control and geometric tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Setup, Programming & Operation
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, job orders, tooling layouts, and standard charts to determine precise machining specifications and setup procedures.
• Machine Configuration: Program utilizing G-Code, set up, and operate CNC lathes and/or mill machines safely and efficiently.
• Workholding Security: Load, indicate, and align raw materials or parts to fixtures, securing workpieces properly within chucks, collets, or dedicated holding devices.
• Tooling Infrastructure: Select, install, and align appropriate cutting tools, cutters, and tool holders; continuously monitor tool wear patterns and replace inserts/tools as needed.
• Equipment Care: Perform routine, preventative machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical or sequencing malfunctions.

Quality Assurance & Post-Processing
• Precision Inspection: Utilize advanced measuring instruments-including micrometers, Vernier calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges-to verify that finished components match exact customer tolerances.
• Component Detailing: Deburr, de-gate, polish, and clean machined parts according to internal routing instructions.
• Production Tracing: Maintain rigorous production quotas while completing required manufacturing documentation and stamping off completed operational phases.

Shop Floor Collaboration & 5S Standards
• Workflow Communication: Interface effectively with cross-shift team members, programmers, and quality inspectors regarding production runs and part velocities.
• Workplace Organization: Maintain a pristine, organized workstation before, during, and after shifts in accordance with strict 5S principles.
• Continuous Improvement: Support team initiatives aimed at optimizing machine output, reducing material scrap, and accelerating delivery cycles.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of three (3) years of active, professional experience as a CNC Machinist.
• Machining Depth: Proven, hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machining centers.
• Technical Literacy:
oStrong ability to read, track, and interpret industrial blueprints and geometric dimensioning.
oAdvanced math aptitude and basic PC computer skills for production data entries.
• Physical & Manual Demands: Excellent manual dexterity to program panels and load machines; good vision for reading measuring tools; ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds routinely.

Preferred Attributes
• Balanced experience handling a varied product mix, ranging from large/heavy structural parts to intricate, small components.
• A strong, self-motivated work ethic with a history of reliable attendance and flexibility to take on overtime assignments when production volumes scale.
