We are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn a skilled trade and grow within a company that invests in its people. No prior experience is necessary. If you have the drive and willingness to learn, we will provide the training and support needed to succeed. At AMB you will develop valuable hands-on skills, have opportunities for continuous growth, and enjoy a stable, long-term career.
Position Summary:
A CNC Machinist at AMB works hands-on with multi-axis machine tools including bridge mills, horizontal boring mills, horizontal lathes, and vertical lathes. Day to day, you will be running these machines to produce bearing components that go into propulsion systems on U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines.
As a CNC Machinist, you will:
• Read and follow drawings, work orders, and other documentation to set up your machine, fixtures, and tooling correctly.
• Take pride in your work cell — keep it running smoothly, stay on schedule, and make quality your standard, not an afterthought.
• Use hand measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to check your own work and speak up when something isn't right.
• Keep your area clean and safe, and take care of your equipment through daily maintenance routines.
The ideal candidate has:
• A genuine interest in learning and growing — someone who sees this as a career, not just a job.
• The ability to pick up new machine tool controllers as needed. AMB currently runs Okuma and Fanuc controllers on its production lines.
• The ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and other customer requirements.
• Excellent communication skills — you will work alongside different teams and individuals on a daily basis.
• A strong work ethic. You take ownership of your work, welcome a challenge, and look for solutions rather than workarounds.
Additional Requirements:
• Applicant will constantly remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Applicant will regularly lift and move 25lbs in all directions.
• Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stopping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
• Must be available for overtime and weekend hours as needed
• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or otherwise eligible to obtain necessary authorizations.
