Position Summary
Seeking a CNC Machinist III for a direct hire opportunity in a precision manufacturing environment. This hands-on role is responsible for complete machine setups, program prove-outs, first-article inspections, and production support on Haas and DMG CNC mills and lathes. The ideal candidate will have strong setup experience, Mastercam familiarity, and the ability to maintain quality, efficiency, and process stability in a tight-tolerance machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete setups on Haas and DMG CNC mills and lathes, including tooling, fixturing, and offset adjustments.
- Load, prove out, and run Mastercam-generated CNC programs while supporting daily production requirements.
- Conduct first-article and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet quality and tolerance requirements.
- Troubleshoot tooling, fixture, and machine-related issues to maintain production efficiency.
- Collaborate with programmers and engineers to improve cycle times, setup efficiency, and process repeatability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, scrap reduction, and operational performance.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC setup experience on mills and/or lathes.
- Hands-on experience with Haas and/or DMG Mori CNC machines.
- Working knowledge of Mastercam and CNC program execution.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Experience working in a precision machining environment with tight tolerances.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and quality inspection abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis machining.
- Ability to perform basic CNC program edits using G-Code.
- Experience with vertical machining centers and horizontal lathes.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive, or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments.
- Experience with process documentation, setup optimization, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
