    Description

    • Set up and operate CNC machines independently with minimal supervision to produce quality parts that meet engineering and customer specifications.
    • Validate machining programs, tooling, and work instructions to ensure accurate, efficient, and safe production.
    • Meet established production goals while maintaining quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
    • Ensure first article parts, production runs, and finished components meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
    • Maintain a safe work environment by following NOV safety policies and procedures.
    • Support continuous production through effective communication, documentation, and teamwork.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Vocational, technical, or trade school education preferred.

    Experience

    • 5-7 years of traditional machining experience or equivalent combination of trade school and machining experience.

    Technical Qualifications

    • Functional knowledge of FANUC-controlled VTL/VTC or Doosan Puma CNC machines.
    • Ability to learn and apply conversational programming, CNC programming, and G & M codes.
    • Ability to develop NC programs.
    • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds.
    • Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
    • Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong shop mathematics skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and machining formulas.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
    • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.

    • Ability to meet the physical demands of operating CNC equipment, including standing for extended periods, frequent bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

    CNC Machine Operation

    • Set up and operate CNC machines with minimal instruction and supervision.
    • Set up CNC machines for first article inspections to validate programs and setup instructions.
    • Validate machine programs and work instructions prior to machining.
    • Proof CNC programs without assistance.
    • Develop and execute NC programs as required.
    • Set up machine tooling, load/unload parts, enter work and tool offsets, determine optimal manufacturing plans, and execute machining programs.
    • Operate FANUC-controlled VTL/VTC or Doosan Puma slant bed horizontal lathe CNC machines.
    • Production & Quality
    • Detect machining malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary machine adjustments.
    • Process production parts while performing continuous dimensional and surface finish inspections.
    • Select appropriate cutting tools without assistance.
    • Maintain required machining tolerances.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work order routings.
    • Apply precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
    • Maintain knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, cutting depths, and machining technology.
    • Monitor machine performance using gauges, indicators, and machine feedback.

    Documentation & Communication

    • Complete work order routings and production documentation.
    • Communicate shift activities, production issues, and ongoing work requirements.
    • Report production or equipment issues to management.
    • Coordinate work effectively with team members.
    • Notify supervision when production objectives cannot be achieved.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Follow all NOV safety policies and procedures.
    • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Work safely in environments that may contain heat, dust, fumes, chemicals, and other industrial hazards.
    • Participate in required medical surveillance programs when applicable.

    Work Environment

    • Work flexible shifts and changing production schedules.
    • Operate machinery for extended periods (8-12 hours).
    • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds during machine setups.
    • Bend frequently while performing setups and inspections
