Position: CNC Machinist
Location: Los Alamos, NM – On-Site
About the Job
We're seeking a dependable and skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on machining experience, a solid understanding of CNC machining practices, and the ability to produce quality parts while following engineering drawings, work instructions, and established manufacturing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment with limited supervision.
- Manufacture parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and job requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Select and install appropriate tooling and make routine machine adjustments as needed.
- Verify tooling, offsets, and setup information before and during machining operations.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specified requirements.
- Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Monitor machining operations and identify issues related to tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance.
- Make routine adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
- Accurately complete Manufacturing and Inspection Travelers and other required production and inspection documentation.
- Report machining, drawing, tooling, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Quality Assurance personnel.
- Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Work cooperatively with senior machinists, supervisors, Quality Assurance, and other production personnel.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Machinist or CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Understanding of machining practices, tooling, and routine machine adjustments.
- Ability to perform basic in-process inspection using precision measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
