Updated Job Description – Manual Lathe & Mill Machinist
Location: Baytown, TX Schedule: First Shift, Full-Time
We're seeking a skilled Manual Lathe & Mill Machinist to support precision machining operations in a heavy industrial setting. This role focuses on shaping and finishing metal components—especially pipe ends and fittings—using manual lathe and manual mill equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set Up & Operate Manual Lathes and Mills: Machine pipe ends and metal parts to exact specifications using manual machining tools.
- Read Technical Drawings: Interpret blueprints and mechanical schematics to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Precision Machining: Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure parts meet required standards.
- Manual Mills & Lathe
- Pipe Beveling & Threading: Perform beveling and threading operations on large-diameter pipe sections for field installation.
- Tool Maintenance: Maintain lathe and mill equipment; ensure tools are sharp, calibrated, and safe to use.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished components for defects and document measurements and production data.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with welders, fitters, and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve machining issues.
Requirements
- Experience operating manual lathes and manual mills in an industrial or fabrication environment
- Strong understanding of machining techniques and metal properties
- Ability to work independently and follow safety protocols
- Physical stamina to handle heavy materials and long shifts
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Shift: 7 AM – 7 PM, Monday–Saturday (rotating)
