Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced CNC Machinists to join a precision manufacturing operation in Claremore. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting CNC mills and lathes to manufacture high-precision components for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate has previous CNC setup and operation experience, understands precision measurement and blueprint reading, and can make minor program and offset adjustments to maintain tight tolerances. This opportunity offers multiple shift options in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of CNC setup and operation experience on mills and/or lathes
Experience setting up tooling, fixtures, workholding, and raw materials
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Ability to perform minor CNC program or G-code edits
Experience making tool offsets and wear adjustments
Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring equipment
Strong shop math skills, including decimals and fractions
Basic geometry knowledge
Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
Ability to maintain quality in a precision-driven manufacturing environment
High school diploma or GED required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC milling and turning equipment
Work with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills as assigned
Set up and operate CNC lathes
Install and verify tooling, fixtures, and workholding
Load raw materials and prepare machines for production
Load and verify CNC programs and operating parameters
Monitor machining operations throughout production runs
Make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
Perform minor CNC code and G-code edits
Adjust machine offsets and tool wear compensation
Troubleshoot basic machining, tooling, and dimensional issues
Maintain required production and quality standards
Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping
Follow all company safety and manufacturing procedures
CNC Setup & Programming Responsibilities
Candidates should be comfortable performing:
CNC machine setup
Tool selection and installation
Fixture and workholding setup
Program loading and verification
Minor G-code edits
Tool offset adjustments
Work offset adjustments
Tool wear corrections
Cycle monitoring and optimization
Basic machining troubleshooting
This position requires more than simply loading and unloading machines. Candidates should have previous hands-on CNC setup and operation experience.
Precision Inspection & Quality
Perform in-process dimensional inspections
Complete first-article inspections as required
Verify finished components meet engineering specifications
Maintain tight dimensional tolerances
Identify and correct dimensional concerns during production
Document or report nonconforming components as required
Candidates should be proficient using:
Micrometers
Calipers
Height gauges
Bore gauges
Other precision measuring instruments
Blueprint & GD&T Responsibilities
Read and interpret customer specifications
Review engineering drawings and job routings
Identify dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements
Understand and apply GD&T symbols
Verify machined components against applicable specifications
Use shop math and geometry to support machining and inspection activities

Applicable shift differentials may be added based on the assigned schedule.

Advanced setup experience
GD&T experience

Experience maintaining tight aerospace or defense tolerances
CNC certification or technical trade degree
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for the duration of the assigned shift
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 4050 lbs
Frequent bending, reaching, positioning, and material handling
Manual dexterity required for tooling, machine setup, and precision measurement
Ability to safely handle raw materials and machined components
Comfortable working around CNC machinery, tooling, metal chips, and production equipment
Ability to safely perform assigned duties while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
