Basic Qualifications:
CNC Lathe | Program Editing | Blueprint Reading | Precision Inspection
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the CNC Lathe Machinist is to machine precision metal components while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards. Specifically, you must be able to:
- Operate CNC lathes to perform turning, boring, facing, grooving, threading, and related machining operations.
- Edit CNC programs, adjust tool offsets, compensation, and machine parameters as needed.
- Assist with machine setups, including installation of chucks, tooling, collets, bushings, and workholding devices.
- Verify first-piece inspections and monitor production using precision measuring instruments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and replace worn tooling as needed.
- Complete production documentation and quality records accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience, preferably operating CNC lathes.
- Experience editing CNC programs and adjusting tool offsets.
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
- Basic math skills including geometry, trigonometry, fractions, decimals, and tolerances.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience performing machine setups and first-piece inspections.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 14001 quality systems.
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate machine tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail during repetitive machining operations.
