Position Overview :

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist/Programmer for a growing operation in Bakersfield, CA. This role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to manufacture precision components in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with blueprint reading, machine setup, and troubleshooting, while maintaining strict adherence to quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes) to produce precision parts
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to ensure accurate machining
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for optimal machine performance
  • Perform machine setups, including loading programs, fixtures, and tooling adjustments
  • Monitor machining processes and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure all parts meet quality standards and specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep machines clean and in proper working condition
  • Document production runs, tooling changes, and quality checks accurately
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and efficiency
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company and OSHA standards


Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in CNC machining and programming (mills and/or lathes)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience with CNC programming (G-code, M-code, or CAM software)
  • Ability to set up machines, select tooling, and adjust speeds/feeds
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances and maintain high-quality standards
  • Experience troubleshooting machining issues and making necessary adjustments
  • Basic understanding of machine maintenance and preventative care
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
