Job Description

Job Title – CNC Machinist
Location – Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Duration – 24 Months
Pay Rate Range: $26.00/hr.- $28.97/hr. on W2
Shift: 02: 00 PM to 10:30 PM
 
Responsibilities:
  • Operate CNC Swiss style lathe independently during swing shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous production
  • Make in process adjustments to tooling, offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain part quality and dimensional control.
  • Take full ownership of product quality on night shift, including inspection, documentation, and adherence to specifications and control plans.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct machining issues such as tool wear, machine alarms, surface finish problems, and dimensional variation.
  • Work closely with peer machinists and management to ensure smooth handoff, including clear communication of machine status, job progress, open issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow standard work, drawings, and setup sheets while applying expert judgment to optimize process stability and cycle time.
  • Perform routine machine checks and preventive actions to minimize downtime and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records per operational requirements.
  • Escalate quality, safety, or equipment concerns as needed to prevent defects from reaching the next operation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool machine shop area.
  • Grind, sharpen, and recondition carbide and HSS cutting tools per specification
Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience and/or education in the following:
  • CNC Swiss/Lathe
  • FANUC CNC controls
  • Machining small, high-precision turned parts
  • Troubleshooting machining and quality issues
  • Interpreting Specifications, Including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience preferred:
  • Carbide Tool Grinding and/or Resharpening
  • Advanced Metrology
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some college or technical coursework preferred
  • Ability to read and converse in English
  • Ability to interpret specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
