CNC Machinist

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity. This role requires more than machine operation—you'll be expected to perform setups, make offsets, troubleshoot machining issues, and ensure parts meet precise specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or multi-axis machining centers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Perform machine offsets and basic program edits using controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or Mazak.
  • Select appropriate tooling and optimize cutting parameters for various materials.
  • Conduct first article inspections and in-process quality checks.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
  • Set up fixtures and perform part changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to reduce scrap and improve cycle times.
  • Perform routine preventative machine maintenance.
  • Follow quality standards and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–10+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers.
  • Strong setup and operation skills—not just machine loading or button-pushing.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Experience making offsets and basic program edits.
  • Strong understanding of tooling selection, feeds and speeds, and machining parameters.
  • Experience machining steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of fixture setup, part changeovers, and preventative maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam or Fusion 360.
  • 4-axis or 5-axis machining experience.
  • Prototype and short-run production experience.
  • Experience improving machining processes, reducing scrap, and optimizing cycle times.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
