Position Summary

Job Summary:

Operate CNC lathes and mills with emphasis on safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Work within a unionized environment.
  • Setup and operate CNC lathes or mills with existing programs and tooling changes.
  • Make edit changes as required on existing programs and or tooling.
  • Install tooling and setup CNC machines as needs.
  • Make offset changes on CNC equipment.
  • Start-up Inspection of equipment and tools.
  • Proficient use of calibrated measuring tools, i.e Calipers, micrometer and gages.
  • Proficient on hand tools i.e wrenches, screw drivers, hex and torx.
  • Work cohesively within a team environment- HPT, audits, Kaizen and daily huddles.
  • Complete thorough quality production documents: including but not limited to, First Article Inspection (FAI), Day by Hour Reports, and audits, as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Safety First: wear all PPE required in the work area. Safety glasses, shoes, gloves, sleeves, apron, earplugs etc.
  • First article inspections on changeovers or as required.
  • Maintain day by hour board with UPLH (units per labor hour) within an acceptable range.
  • Minimize mistakes that lead to scrap parts.
  • Maintain work area clean with 5S, put all tooling away, clean up any spills and report any safety concerns.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CNC certificate from an accredited school or program.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in related field.
  • Preferably knowledge of Okuma or related CNC Programable mills and lathes.
  • Math skills including trigonometry.
Competencies:
  • Able to interpret blueprints and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot programs and/or any tooling problems to produce quality parts to specification in a timely manner.

The base pay range for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Currently, this range is \$26.73/hour to \$42.24/hour (fully qualified journeyman) based upon qualifications.
