Job Title: 2nd Shift CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist sets up, operates, and maintains CNC machines to produce precision components used in hydraulic and power systems. This role works in a high-volume manufacturing environment and requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and machining centers, to produce precision components.
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
Perform tool changes, adjust offsets, and make basic program edits directly at the machine as needed.
Monitor machine operations to maintain product quality, throughput, and efficient cycle times.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify part dimensions.
Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure all parts meet specifications and quality standards.
Troubleshoot minor machining and tooling issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
Document production activities, quality checks, and any required records accurately and on time.
Essential Skills
1–3+ years of CNC machining experience on lathes and mills, with set-up experience preferred for more advanced responsibilities.
Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes in a production environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, or similar CNC controls.
Experience using standard inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
Experience working in a high-volume or precision manufacturing environment.
Prior exposure to hydraulics or metal machining processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience performing basic CNC programming or program adjustments at the machine.
Comfort working with a variety of CNC machine types, including lathe and mill configurations.
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality procedures consistently.
Strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and adherence to 5S principles.
Effective communication skills to work with production, quality, and maintenance teams.

Work Environment
This role operates in a high-volume precision manufacturing environment with CNC mills and lathes and modern CNC controls such as Fanuc and similar systems. The position is designated for 2nd shift, with core hours from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Training typically occurs on 1st shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for approximately 1–2 months depending on the candidate and off-shift placement. A 7% shift premium applies to 2nd shift, and a 10% shift premium applies to 3rd shift roles. There is potential for 5–10 hours of overtime, with occasional Saturdays depending on production needs and time of year. The work involves standing for extended periods, operating CNC equipment, and performing inspections using precision measuring tools in a shop-floor environment that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety.
