Job Description


This role involves setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines on a day shift in a machine shop environment to produce high-quality skylight components and other machined parts. You will ensure parts meet specifications by interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping accurate production records, and performing routine maintenance on equipment and supplies.


Responsibilities


+ Set up and operate CNC machines to produce skylight components and other machined parts according to specifications.

+ Load aluminum extrusions into CNC machines and monitor automated processes to ensure smooth and consistent production.

+ Interpret technical drawings and blueprints and use them to program CNC machines accurately.

+ Collaborate with the engineering team to refine and optimize CNC programs for improved efficiency and productivity.

+ Conduct regular quality checks on machined extrusions and parts to verify they meet dimensional and quality specifications.

+ Make adjustments to CNC programs, tooling, and machine settings as needed to maintain consistent product quality.

+ Select and install appropriate tooling for each machining operation, including mills, lathes, and related equipment.

+ Monitor tool life, perform timely tool changes, and ensure tooling is maintained in good working condition.

+ Perform CNC setup and operating tasks in line with established quality standards and work instructions.

+ Operate and maintain CNC equipment safely, following all operational and safety requirements.

+ Handle materials safely, including lifting, bending, and manipulating aluminum extrusions and other materials as required.

+ Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area to support smooth production operations.

+ Document work performed, maintain production and inspection records, and report any issues or nonconformances promptly.


Essential Skills


+ 2 to 5 years of experience as a CNC Machine Operator or CNC Machinist.

+ Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, including mills and lathes.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.

+ Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of CNC machine operations.

+ Hands-on experience performing CNC setups and operations to high quality standards.

+ Knowledge of operational and safety requirements for operating and maintaining CNC equipment.

+ Experience with material handling and movement, including safe lifting, bending, and material manipulation.

+ Demonstrated capability to operate CNC equipment safely and follow safety procedures.

+ Experience with inspection of machined parts to ensure they meet specifications.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience in door and window manufacturing or related industries is preferred.

+ Familiarity with or interest in CNC programming and program optimization.

+ Experience with lathe operations, milling, and general machine operation.

+ Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and production teams.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent product quality.

+ Good organizational skills to maintain a safe and orderly work area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
