CNC Mill Or Lathe Machinist

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Compensation: $36.00 – $42 per hour (DOE) + competitive benefits package

Employment Type: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: 1st or 2nd shift (Monday – Friday)

I am working with a very important client in Santa Ana, a leading aerospace manufacturer specializing in high-precision, flight-critical components for defense and commercial aviation.

About the Role

The CNC Mill/Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling or Lathe machines to produce precision aerospace components. This role performs complex setups, interprets engineering drawings, and ensures parts are manufactured to tight tolerances while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Essential Duties
  • Set up and operate CNC milling/Lathe machines per work instructions and engineering drawings
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications
  • Plan machining operations based on work orders and engineering requirements
  • Load raw materials using overhead cranes and proper safety procedures
  • Set tooling, fixtures, and reference points for CNC milling operations
  • Enter and run programs using CNC control systems/software
  • Inspect parts using gauges and precision measuring instruments
  • Troubleshoot machining issues during production runs
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and isolate nonconforming parts
  • Complete required production, quality, and labor documentation
  • Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (proof required)
  • 7+ years CNC machining experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
  • Experience with CNC milling machine setup and operation
  • Strong shop math skills and understanding of machining principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
Preferred
  • CNC Machining certificate
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
