JOB SUMMARY: The Machinist is responsible for fabricating, machining, and setting up production processes for aircraft parts and components. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, planning work sequences, operating manual and CNC machinery, and ensuring precision and quality in manufacturing operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications Determine sequence of operations, setup methods, and number of cuts required Perform machining and sheet metal fabrication using manual and CNC equipment Set up and operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and press brakes Fabricate parts as per work instructions, drawings, and specifications Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments and gaging equipment Perform shop computations and select appropriate materials, parts, and tools Assemble and fit precision components Maintain, clean, adjust, and store tools and equipment properly Maintain records and reports related to equipment usage and production Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE Perform additional duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum 6 years of machinist experience OR Associate’s/technical degree with at least 2 years of machinist experience Experience with manual machining (lathe) and CNC machining. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Knowledge of machining processes, tools, and equipment Basic mathematical skills for shop calculations Ability to perform in-process inspections and ensure quality standards Ability to work in a team environment Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and different shifts as required Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in sheet metal fabrication in a manufacturing/industrial environment Familiarity with machines such as AMADA, FADAL, or HAAS Hand-forming or manual machining experience Knowledge of milling machines, lathes, and press brakes setup and operation Understanding of production plans and work instructions Knowledge of industry laws, codes, and regulations CERTIFICATIONS: Trade school certification (preferred) State-licensed Journeyman Machinist certification (strongly preferred) Education: High School
